So there is an AliExpress product that impressed you and you have placed your order.
A few days later, you look into the tracking page only to find the dreaded, “Shipment cancelled” tracking status.
How and why is that so? Let’s get into it right away.
What Does “Shipment Cancelled” Mean On AliExpress?
When AliExpress says, “Shipment cancelled,” it means that the order won’t be shipped for some reason, and it will be refunded.
In some rare occurrences, we have seen orders that said “Shipment canceled” and were delivered.
Since those two are contrasting incidents, we will examine both and enlighten you.
What Are The 5 KEY Reasons AliExpress Says A Shipment Has Been Cancelled?
The Seller Had No Ready Package
We have noted that many AliExpress sellers don’t indicate when items are out of stock.
In such scenarios, buyers keep placing their orders, which brings troubles later, and such sellers are to be blamed.
To begin with, AliExpress gives sellers 10 days to create tracking labels after buyers place their orders. Now, if you see the “Shipment cancelled” status, it means that you have a valid tracking number.
Below is where the problem lies now.
AliExpress still gives sellers 14 days to ship the packages after the tracking numbers have been created.
If your seller doesn’t hand over your package to AliExpress within those 14 days, AliExpress systems cancel the order and provide a refund.
We noted that sellers who don’t have the packages in stock are the ones bringing the issue of shipment cancellations.
It’s crucial for us to also mention that some AliExpress sellers keep changing the tracking numbers for packages so that they can get an extra 14 days to work on orders that are out of stock.
When AliExpress notices that the sellers keep doing so, they automatically cancel the shipments and refund the buyers.
The Carrier Rejected The Package
Depending on what you had ordered, some carriers have stringent terms and conditions and could decline to accept to pick up the package from the seller.
Other reasons why they could reject is due to the item having been not addressed properly or packaged as expected.
Whenever shippers decline to take packages from the sellers, AliExpress usually uses “Shipment canceled” as the tracking status.
The Package Got Lost
While your seller might have pre-advised the shipper to pick up the package from them, it could be that the item was misplaced in the warehouse and ended up getting lost.
If there wasn’t another item like that that you had ordered and the seller has no hope of retrieving it, AliExpress will most likely tell you that your shipment has been canceled instead of giving you false hope to wait.
Wrong Address
If you provided the wrong address or the seller input the wrong address for your package and AliExpress notices that it’s the wrong format, the chances of them canceling that order are high as they know the item won’t get to you anyway.
The only problem at that point is that they don’t usually provide the real reason why the order got canceled, which is a major point of concern.
We ask you to always verify your address as any slight mishaps in writing the address will get you inconvenienced.
The Price Changed
Most AliExpress sellers get their items from wholesale stores.
If their source upscaled their price and selling to you at the original price will mean a loss to them, sellers usually do what they can to get the order canceled.
After there, they usually update the new prices on AliExpress to reflect the price changes.
If, after getting your refund, you would like to reorder the item, you might be forced to top up past your recent budget to get such an item from that seller.
Why Does AliExpress Say “Shipment Canceled” But It Gets Delivered?
We have seen some rare scenarios where AliExpress said the order was canceled but then a few days later after that, such a package ends up getting delivered.
From our findings, these are the vital reasons:
Wrong Scan
Due to a wrong scan, an AliExpress package that initially showed that it was shipped and arrived at a linehaul office can show “Shipment canceled” due to the wrong scan.
Wrong tracking statuses are usually common during peak shopping times such as around 11.11, Chinese New Year, Black Friday, and Christmas.
Again, if the seller used the Economy Shipping option, it’s possible for them not to provide you with the right tracking statuses.
If you see that the tracking statuses don’t make any sense as you use AliExpress, we recommend using free Third-party tracking sites such as Parcelsapp and 17Track to find more.
While AliExpress tracking might say that your shipment was canceled, it could be that it’s on the way.
Even after AliExpress refunds you and your item ends up getting to you, they don’t mind you keeping it.
The Package Was Misplaced
While your package might have correctly shipped, AliExpress might say that it was canceled due to getting misplaced.
Such misplacements usually happen when yours is a smaller-sized item and it gets bundled together with a bigger one, making it impossible for AliExpress to see it during the initial scans.
Does AliExpress Automatically Refund You When They Tell You, “Shipment Cancelled?”
Sometimes, AliExpress automatically refunds buyers immediately after the “Shipment canceled” tracking status.
Other times, the buyer has to ask for a refund as AliExpress systems don’t always capture where refunds are applicable.
It’s also crucial to note that at other times, you have to wait for the system to show automatic delivery before you can initiate the refund process.
To do so, head over to “Order details” after 60 to 90 days have passed depending on your country, and initiate your refund from there. If AliExpress asks you for evidence that you didn’t receive your item, send screenshots of the tracking page showing “Shipment canceled” and they will process it right away.
