As your international AliExpress package is in transit coming to you, one of the most common tracking statuses you can see is, “Departed from transit country/region.”
Now that you are here, you may wonder what this update means and what you can do if the status is stuck for days.
Let’s get to it right away.
What Does “Departed From Transit Country/Region” Mean On AliExpress?
This AliExpress tracking status means that a package has left from an intermediate country between the origin and destination countries, and it’s on its way toward the recipient.
Typically, a transit country or region is a country or region between the package’s originating country and the recipient’s country.
Most inter-continent packages pass through transit countries to get them routed to get to the destination countries perfectly.
The “Departed from transit country/region” comes after ‘Arrived In Transit Country/Region,’ which we covered in its entirety.
Why Is My Package Stuck On, “Departed From Transit Country/Region” For Days?
Missed Scans
From our experience, AliExpress rarely scans packages across each step they make. Such missed scans are majorly a measure to save time.
Now, due to missed scans, you can’t see anything new on the tracking page, which could make some of the recipients more anxious.
The only positive thing at that point is that the package is still on its way to you, but it would be best if you had a clue about where it currently is.
As such, we usually recommend to our audience to re-track their packages using free third-party sites such as 17Track and Parcelsapp whenever the tracking status doesn’t move past two days.
Such sites are integrated into the AliExpress systems and will provide better updates whenever packages make any step.

Bad Weather Conditions
While your package might have properly left the transit country, it could be that there are inclement weather conditions in the destination country, making it impossible to offload the items from the vehicle and subject them to customs clearance.
In that case, the staff have to wait until it’s clear enough for their safety and that of the packages.
Depending on how long it takes for the weather to be clear, it might take a couple of days before the tracking status can move from “Departed from transit country/region.”
Bugged Tracking
Sometimes, the AliExpress tracking page doesn’t update as expected, and one of the most common reasons for such mishaps is due to bugs.
Such hitches are mostly common around peak times such as 11.11, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and Chinese New Year.
In fact, we have had incidents where packages that were stuck on “Departed from transit country region” ended up getting delivered without anything new to see. All these happen as a result of the tracking page failing to work as expected.
Backed Up Facilities In The Destination Country
Whenever packages reach the destination country, they have to undergo customs clearance.
If the customs offices there are overwhelmed with backlogs, it means that the items won’t be offloaded as there is no space to be processed further.
The problem is even worse if there are more planes to be cleared before the one carrying your package gets worked on.
Due to backlogs especially in the peak delivery times, we have seen packages getting stuck on “Departed from transit country/region” for more than a week.
How Long Does A Package Stay On “Departed From Transit Country Or Region?”
On average, a packages takes between 2 days to a week before it can move from the ‘departed’ status.
However, it’s vital to use third-party tracking sites to keep checking on whatever journey the parcel makes.
If 60 days pass without receiving the package and the status still doesn’t change, we recommend filing a claim for refund based on non-delivery.
Why Is This “Departed” Status Sent In The Wrong Order?
Lately, we have had incidents where packages received the “Departed from transit country/region” in the wrong order where the statuses don’t make any sense.
When you see such updates with different timezones as in the screenshot below, it’s a result of different sources of the timezones.
For instance, the tracking time could show GMT+2 to indicate that your local delivery carrier sent such information to AliExpress. If you see another tracking status with GMT+8, know that that time was provided by Cainiao to indicate the local time in China.
